  • How does this Cafe Zero functions?

Cafe Zero functions as Nepal's first experimental zero-waste cafe, operating on a circular economy model designed to minimize waste and disposables from farm to table.

Established in Bakhundole, Lalitpur, the cafe is built to educate visitors about sustainable living and active waste reduction. The initiative operates under the core "5R" principles (Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) through the following functional strategies:

    • Circular Menu Additions: Pre-consumed food scraps are reimagined into new dishes instead of being thrown away. For example, the kitchen converts leftover potato peels into crispy potato chips.
    • Upcycled Infrastructure: Instead of single-use materials or traditional decor, the cafe utilizes upcycled items. Discarded plastic bottle caps are collected and repurposed into drink coasters.
    • Responsible Sourcing & Distribution: Ingredients are sourced locally from farmers to shorten the supply chain. Additionally, the project models food security structures by separately storing and redistributing excessively cooked food to targeted beneficiaries.
    • On-Site Waste Management: Rather than outsourcing waste blindly to landfills, the cafe serves as a live experience center. It demonstrates proper sorting, reduction at the source, and strict elimination of single-use plastics directly on its premises.

  • Would you like to conduct Sustainability Workshops & Community Talks or meetups at Cafe Zero?

Because Cafe Zero functions as a community hub and a "living laboratory" for sustainability, we actively welcome green entrepreneurs, experts, and organizations to host sessions.

Here is how you can come forward to collaborate or book the space at Cafe Zero for a workshop or community talk:

    1. Directly Contact the Team

You can pitch your workshop idea or inquire about venue availability through our official communication channels:

    • Phone/WhatsApp:+977 970-9001212
    • Email: info@cafezero.com.np or cafezerokathmandu@gmail.com
    • Location for In-Person Proposals: Cafe Zero, 277 Bakhundol Height Marg, Lalitpur

    2. Prepare a Simple Pitch

When you reach out, the team will generally want to know how your session aligns with our circular economy ethos. Be ready to share:

    • The Topic: How it connects to sustainability, climate action, local farming, recycling, or eco-friendly living.
    • The Format: Whether it is an interactive workshop (like upcycling or crafting), a panel discussion, or an open community meetup.
    • Target Audience: Estimated number of attendees (space is cozy and limited, so events usually require RSVP tracking).

    3. Check for Ongoing Collaborative Frameworks

If you are representing an organization, a school, or a green startup, mention it!

Cafe Zero frequently partners with external entities to co-host events that educate the public on reducing waste footprints.

  • Does Cafe Zero offer subsidies or venue fee waivers for hosting eco-events and meetings?

Yes, Cafe Zero offers venue support and operational cost-waivers for events that align with our sustainability and zero-waste mission. While we do not provide cash subsidies, we actively sponsor the space and logistics for educational programs, green entrepreneur meetups, and eco-workshops to help changemakers connect with our community.

🌿 What We Offer for Eligible Eco-Events:

    • Waived Venue Fees: We frequently waive our standard private booking and hall fees for free, open-to-the-public educational events.
    • Complimentary Refreshments: Select green talk sessions receive a complimentary round of tea, coffee, or sustainable light snacks for the guest speakers and early attendees.
    • Bring-Your-Own-Cup Discount: We incentivize zero-waste habits by giving your attendees an automatic NPR 30 discount on any drink orders if they bring their own reusable flask or mug.
    • Event Cross-Promotion: We actively promote eligible workshops on our official Cafe Zero Instagram and Facebook channels to boost your audience reach.
